Customers are mixed about the fit of the scope mount. Some mention that it fits very nicely, while others say that it didn't fit out of the box. The fit is unique and takes careful hands, patience, and a file. Some say that the bolt on their Norinco did not fit the grooves on the bottom side of the mount. When I attempted to put this product on, it wedged into the upper assembly and stuck and would not go into place. I even told my g/f that I was probably going to have to grind it down like on so many of these reviews. I fiddled with it several times, attempting to get the points of the assembly to slide under the slots on the side of the upper receiver assembly of my SKS, but no luck.
Finally, I decided that my SKS wasn't fragile and even if I broke it, I was only out a few hundred bucks at the most. I smacked the back end and it slid right into the assembly and I locked it into place, mounted the scope and headed to the range. We only took one box of ammo out, so I didn't get to play with it as much as I would have liked, but I mounted a Leupold 3x9x50 scope on the mount, which is way too much scope for an SKS but it worked great as a spotting scope for the other guns we shot Sunday.
This product is solid and very well manufactured especially considering the weapons these mounts were made for are not exactly the most precision firearms ever made. Great product. I'd buy another if I had 2 SKS rifles. Overall it made a fun shooting rifle into an even more fun rifle. ;)
Another problem is the paint. You can't see it in the picture, but the paint is very "cheap" looking. It looks like somebody used a can of spray paint and coated the crap out of it. It is too glossy and the texture is not very smooth. It does not blend with the receiver very well as far as color/texture goes. I will probably sand with fine paper and re-paint it with a light coat of flat black.
Overall, the price is low and it appears to function nice after some modification. I wish it was a little more of an "out-of-box" part, but not a bad buy.
It came with nice-quality rings for my scope, much better rings, in fact, than I payed $10 for. (I thought this wouldn't come with any).
Now, as for the most important thing I can mention: If you get this, consider getting a short scope. I got a long scope (Barska, 3-9x40, from cheaper than dirt) and it fits on fine, but the front end of the scope is positioned right above the spot the shells are ejected. This can cause them to bounce right back into the chamber and jam the gun.
I solved this by making a temporary shell deflector from one of the extra rings (that I accidentally ordered) and a piece of aluminum I gun from a heavy-duty beer bottle. I haven't field tested it yet, but it seems to work in my simulated test in my garage.
All in all, very happy with this scope mount, you just might want to get a short scope...
