EAA, a Florida-based outfit that brings in a ton of pistols from overseas– their initials mean European American Armory– has long made its name with a series of 1911s and CZ75 clones made by Tanfoglio in Italy dubbed the Witness.
They also import a bunch of Turkish-made guns (the Girsan Beretta 92, Browning Hi-Power clones).
What is a little foggy is where their promised new 2311 line, named the Witness 2311, comes from. The company late last year at the NASGW event had 2311s on display with frames from North Carolina-based Cosaint Arms, roughly in the same commander-length format as that company’s COS21 series, but for half the price.
However, the new Witness 2311s are made by Girsan, using standard double stack 1911 magazines as well as the traditional polymer grip, receiver, and the top end of those Turkish 1911s in 9mm, 45ACP, and 10mm. So, the frame could be American, while the top is Turkish.
Either way, we’ll figure it out and report from SHOT Show with what we find.
